Online Dictionaries:

  • Best Malayalam --> English online dictionaries (Note that there are many fewer of these than English --> Malayalam dictionaries, and of those that exist, many are awfully sparse, producing no hit for even relatively common terms.  Thus, these are the 3 best I've found, but are still far from comprehensive.):

Anki flashcard program:  I've set up sets of flashcards to accompany the basic lessons in the introductory tutorials, and they're freely available online.  They are set up through a spaced-repetition flashcard program called Anki.  To download and use them:
  • Go to http://ankisrs.net/ and download & install Anki
  • When you open it, you will see a row of buttons across the bottom, the first of which is "get shared".  Click this, and it will open a browser tab that lists some common subjects (not Malayalam...) and has a search box near the upper right.  If you just search for "Malayalam" there will only be a few options - the cards I've made are labeled "Malayalam for English Speakers - For Beginners".  Note that the are as of now a work in progress, and will be updated over time....
  • If you want to study a specific lesson from this deck, go to "Tools" and select "Create filtered deck".  In the search box, delete deck:"Default" and instead type tag:"Lesson_1" (or whatever lesson you want, obviously).
